St Paul's win Under14 championship    2010-08-17 11:40:32
Tuesday evening August 10th saw a good crowd gather at St Peter’s ground to watch the Linwood’s u14 championship final between St Paul’s, undefeated in the league and second place Tir na nOg. They were expecting an enthralling game, this was a fixture to relish and it did not disappoint.
Tir na nOg as to the program lined out with thirteen players as did St Paul’s and despite conceding two early goals to the Lurgan outfit it was the Portadown men who in the early stages made better use of the extra space afforded by the reduced numbers. Some fine football was on show from both sides, the mid-field battle was intense from throw in to final whistle and while the St Paul’s half and full forward lines broke down the opposition almost at will, it was the sheer hard work and will to win displayed by both sides that kept this game exciting. For the main the free flowing football was being played by the St Paul’s men and they took control as the half wore on.
At the end of a truly entertaining first half St Paul’s led 3-5 to 06 and the second half provided more of the same. Great commitment and a never say die attitude shown by both teams along with some tough tackling made for a exciting second period. Both teams had periods were they were on top and both sets of supporters were in good voice as their sides gave it their all right up to the final whistle. When the score-line read as St Pauls 5-11 to Tir na og 0-12. The coaching staff for both clubs deserve credit for the fitness level displayed by both teams and the high level of skills displayed especially by the Lurgan Team.
Cameron Dummingan and Jason Areavey were outstanding at the back and Caolan Boyle did very well while carrying an injury into the game. Daire Haughey kept his man to a single score and last but by no means least Ruairi Conway kept a clean sheet between the posts for St Paul’s. Sub’s used for St Paul’s were Ryan ONeill, Mark Agnew and Ryan Blevans who all played their part.
Congratulations to St Paul’s and especially their coaching staff Sean Heaney, Jerry Headley and Martin Mc Kerr, very well done!
Scorers for St Paul’s:Tiarnan Farquhar (2-02), Darragh Mc Corry (1-00), Jonathan Douglas (1-01), Sam Haddock (0-02), Aaron Rodgers (1-00), Kyle Cooney (0-04), Connor Jordan (0-01), and Declan Magee (0-01).

First game at the redeveloped Playing Fields.     2010-08-05 14:28:27

St Paul's hosted a friendly match with Antrim neighbours St Mary's of Aghagallon last night
(Tuesday 3rd August). This was the first match played on the recently redeveloped Playing Fields at Taghnevan. The game was tight in the first half with St Mary's 1 point ahead at the break (0-03) (0-04).
In the second half St Paul's had the edge, with some great scores coming from both sides. When referee Michael Leonard blew the final whistle St Paul's were 2 points up providing them with a welcomed victory for their first match at the new complex.
Final Score: St Paul's (1-12) St Mary's (2-07)

Website Launch - www.gaa.ie    2010-02-02 20:13:40
The launch of the Association’s new website will take place in the coming weeks after months of planning and preparation. The new site will include a host of new features not previously catered for on the old site. It will bring new and regularly updated content to the site with a dedicated “ClubZone” detailing information, forms and documents ranging from the GAA Official Guide (Part 1) and Playing Rules (Part 2), Club constitution, membership forms, Club manual, registration and IT related Club information. Also new to the site will be regular video, audio and news content, feature pieces and player diaries as well as for the first time, a centralised database of archived results ranging from All Ireland Senior, Minor, Junior, Intermediate, U21, Inter- Provincial and Provincial final results (at all levels) in both codes. Also included will be detailed county senior final roll of honours, team listings from all major finals as well as a host of other results in various competitions. All told, the new GAA website will be a crucial communications tool for the Association moving forward and will be the first port of call for all information relating to the Club and the Association at large.
